Presidential election in Tanzania

Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, presidential candidate for the ruling party CCM ("Revolution Party"), which has led the country since independence in 1961, was this weekend declared as the victor in the presidential election last Sunday. Chief opponent Edward Lowassa received 40% of votes against Magufulis 58%.

Lowassa was Minister of CCM until 2008 when he had to step back facing allegations of corruption. But ill-concealed corruption, popularly named Corruption Business, is a major problem for many African countries. Magufuli has embarked on a policy that intend to change the situation in Tanzania. We wish him good luck!
